Start with a postcode, see its official statistical geography and move to a ward page where every figure explains what place and period it describes.

A plain-language walk-through

  1. Open the E15 2NE lookup or type your own postcode on the home page. Civic shows the ONS centroid, LSOA, ward and borough.
  2. Follow the ward link. Read the resident population, recorded-crime rate per 1,000 Census residents and registered-sale median together with each measure’s date and geographic basis.
  3. Choose a neighbouring ward from the comparison picker. Both sides use the same calculation and source vintage; Civic does not declare a winner.

What each number means

Population is Census 2021. Recorded crime is a rolling 12-month total allocated through the documented LSOA basis and divided by that Census denominator. Fire and collision windows state their exact dates. Registered-sale quartiles use completed HM Land Registry transactions mapped from their current postcode geography.

What it cannot tell you

Facts only: Civic Data does not rank, score or recommend. A higher or lower count does not explain why it occurred, predict what will happen or say whether a place is safe, desirable or suitable for someone. Read the notices and source dates, and use local context alongside the figures.
