What you receive
Civic resolves the postcode to an LSOA, returns the latest complete 12-month period, compares it with the previous 12 months, and calculates the year-over-year change from published counts. The response also returns a rate per 1,000 residents with its Census 2021 denominator and vintage.

Important context
Results describe recorded crime at LSOA level, not a single street or property. The denominator is a fixed Census 2021 count, not a current estimate. If it is missing, the rate is null and no raw-count fallback is used. Civic keeps classification regimes explicit and does not create a safety or desirability score.
